THE RED LION, BIGGLESWADE, CENTRAL BEDS

This statutorily listed timber-framed pub sits on the inner edge of a pretty market town. The current setting is rather barren, with large expanses of asphalt currently used for parking. Our proposal seeks to restore a more historically appropriate density to the site, including a new orangery for private events and restaurant dining, a restaurant in the restored former pub, a farm shop and some mews dwellings. The restored historic building will take pride of place in a collection of buildings arranged around a central courtyard, which will be used for dining as well as periodically hosting small market stalls selling local produce.
